Figo Italian Bistro in Vancouver Island

Very tasty dinner! Chicken caprese was delicious.

Was looking forward to dinner as I had heard good things about Figo. I guess things have changed, because they no longer have fresh pasta or pizza, which is what I understood. The mussels were excellent, but the mains were disappointing. My companion noted that her dish was bland, and my pork loin was over cooked and dry. Their wine feature was undrinkable, and the food was under-seasoned, with no salt on the table should you care for it. Service was seriously lousy. When you notice my paper napkin needs replacing, I shouldn’t have to ask for a fresh one. And maybe filling our water glass shouldn’t be a rarity.

Had a lovely dinner tonight with cheese ravioli in a rose sauce. Quaint little establishment with very friendly owners. Will definitely return on our next visit to Nanaimo.

The food was very good. The service was bad. We ordered drinks, then sat there like birds in the freaking wilderness for twenty minutes. Finally, I threatened to leave. After that service improved somewhat. Apparently they were missing staff that night. Really good food. Atrocious service.

My husband and I were excited to try this place, but unfortunately we left before we even had a chance to order. Waitress refused to take our order, stating kitchen was too busy. We might have been more patient if she’d offered us something to nibble on while we waited, but just flat out refused to take our order even tho we had a reservation... the place wasn’t even full. We waited for 40 mins and left our overpriced wine ($35 for 2 glasses) on the table. Luckily there was a Tandoori Indian restaurant next door...they had our appetizers on the table within 10 mins. I offer this review as constructive criticism... hopefully it will be used to improve the service... it’s a great looking menu and vibe.

I'm very picky when it comes to pasta and white sauces never been happy before now!!!! this was to die for I can happily say I've tasted amazing white sauce with speghetti at a restuarant go here and you will be in love

got the spaghetti when I went here on a date a while back, left went for a walk with my date to the waterfront. got to Tim Hortons downtown and started throwing up from what I assume was the food I ate only a few hours prior. my first and last time eating here as the service wasn't the greatest either.

Every time we’re in Nanaimo for a night, we go here for dinner! The first time we ate her my mother said it was the best food she’d had in years. It’s wonderful Italian food, good service and a nice atmosphere. Definitely recommend this place for a date, special occasion or just a good meal!

A tiny restaurant, obviously run by passionate people. The food is always good and the service is always unobtrusively attentive. Well worth visiting.

It's cute inside and food was fine but they had a major attitude when we politely let them know some of our prawns were partly raw.. Didn't say sorry or anything and chef didn't care. They definitely don't take feedback well and are on a high horse. Dangerous considering how fast news spreads here and we have so many clients daily, since we work at the busiest nail studio in town. Good luck. Don't think we'll be coming back because of how we were treated and all the events that followed that.

Had a lunch meeting here. Fantastic. Everyone at the table enjoyed their dishes. Very friendly staff and nice decor. If you're into pasta or Italian food in general, I'd give it a try.

This is the only Authentic Italian restaurant in Nanaimo. The owner/Chef is Italian and knows how the food should taste.

Nice resturant but the service was slow they didnt know what they were doing. You can hear the owner yelling at the staff. When i mentioned something to the staff nothing was done about. Probably they are intimidated by him.

I found the restaurant "" just about had it together "" . Missing good selection of wines , i.e. a nice merlot from California Columbia Crest or some nice Argentinian reasonable wines. They offered some italian wines , seemed weak and no depth . Menu seemed limited , missing Lasagna , apparently its offered very seldom. I would say their pasta dishes were spectacular , service was good, portions were large . Whoever owns this restaurants needs to go to Vancouver and then maybe he can get it up to speed . Then he can service the customers needs .Good luck .

This plane's pasta is amazing! Recommended by a driver, we came here right before 6pm and got a special which is $16 including a glass of wine- very worth and the pasta and sauce is delicious! Would love to come back when I visit Nanaimo again.

Great bistro, nice people. My husband calls the chef a chicken whisperer... so juicy and good. The pasta is great and the desserts are awesome. Well worth a visit.

This rather quaint spot in Nanaimo's downtown offers traditional Italian food in a modern setting. Although a better trained pallet might discern more flavour than mine, I found the dishes we ordered (including an appetizer, main and dessert) did not align with the price tag. The service was good and accommodating, but the food did not seem very special. Although I intend to try another visit here in the near future, I'm not sure whether I could tell the difference between Figo's cuisine and a "chain" Italian restaurant at this point.

Beautiful restaurant with simple and classic Italian dishes made very well. Seasoning was on point and the service was super friendly. The suggestion s that the server provided were spot on and completely satisfied my cravings for Italian food.

We were three people and we all enjoyed our pasta dishes. Good service too. Prices are a bit on the high side, but justified..

What a lovely little restaurant! My friend took me for my birthday. I am vegetarian and she is gluten and dairy free. Our waitress ( who is also the owner) had no problem recommending several options for use both and it was excellent! The espresso was amazing too! Too full for dessert, but it looked delectable! Definitely recommend it!

Great atmosphere, food is authentic and well prepared and presented. Best bang for your buck and one of the few places in town to enjoy a real cappuccino.

I would give this place negative stars if I could. Terrible service, smallest portions (recieved a quarter of a chicken breast in my pasta).. I had phoned after the fact to talk to someone about the service, the owner returned my call and said he didnt want me as a customer and hung up on me.. i will never eat there again.. Just terrible all around, give your head a shake..

I can’t believe that an Italian restaurant uses pasta out of the box... the arancinos were tasteless and the service was so slow. The only good thing was the service and the olives.

Just had dinner here and it was excellent. The pace was good, service was attentitive, and the food delicious. I definitely recommend the arancino! Both our pasta entrees were great and so was the tiramisu. The meal portions were also solid—we had to pack up half our meals to save room for dessert. Our server was also on the quiet side, which was a refreshing change from the typical server. We will be back for sure!
